SNEHITHA CALLING BELL

Snehitha calling bell programme mainly focusing on people those who feels insecurity and loneliness in their lives.

The beneficiaries of this programme are

  • Isolated people
  • Widows
  • Old aged people
  • Mentally illed people
  • Differently abled people
In this programme Kudumbashree act as a bridge between these people and society. To identify the beneficiaries Kudumbashree conducted a survey through NHG health volunteers. In Thrissur district we identified 5903 people as Snehitha calling bell beneficiaries. Kudumbashree conducted need assessment of the beneficiaries through the community counsellors. From the assessment we identified that livelihoods needs, housing needs, health care, legal support, temporary shelter,pakalveed security needs, mental support, counselling needs, other entitlements like adhar card, heath card, ration card, voter’s ID etc. are the main needs of beneficiaries. Snehitha calling bell coordination committee formed in 67CDSs.

Services provided for the calling bell beneficiaries

    PAKALVEEDU

In Thrissur District from September 2018 to November 2018, about 51 pakalveedustarted undersnehitha calling bell programme. Snehitha staffs coordinated the programmes in field level with the joint intervention of Snehitha, community counsellors and Gender RPs. Snehitha could rebuild the existing Pakalveedu system in convergence with local self-Government and to organise new pakalveedu in the Panchayaths. Inaugral Function completed in these Pakalveedu. Based on the action plan prepared by snehitha, community counsellors and snehitha staffs conducted various programmes in the newly inaugaratedPakalveedu. On 10/11/2018 a group counselling programme conducted in the Pakalveeduat nenmanikkaraPanchayath. Programme conducted by Snehitha staff and community counsellor. On 01/11/2018 an entertainment programme including games and group activites conducted inMelurPakalveedu as a part of Keralapiravi. Community counsellor led the programme. 95people participated in the programme. On 14/11/2018 a group counselling programme conducted in MelurPanchayath for 25 Pakalveedu beneficiaries. On 24/09/2018 an awareness programme conducted in ThekkukaraPanchayathPakalveedu on “mental health of old age people” for 18 pkalveedu beneficiaries. On 13/11/18 a group counselling programme conducted in ChowannurPanchayathpakalveedu for 22 pakalveedu beneficiaries.

    Medical camp

As part of an intervention for the calling bell beneficiaries, medical camps conducted in 100CDS in convergence with the local self-government and PHCs. Community counsellors and snehitha staffs coordinated the programmes. Some medical camps conducted in the Pakalveed itself. So we could start a followup medical camp check-up programme in connection with these camps in the concerned pakalveedu. PHCs are willing to provide a health card for the calling bell beneficiaries. So it is help full to get medical aid for them from PHCs easily.

    Visit of Balasabha Children

As an intervention for the calling bell beneficiaries snehitha could organise a programme of housevisit of calling bell beneficiaries with Balasabha children. The Programme was led by community counsellors in the field level. Snehitha coordinated the programme. Balasabha visits completed in 100 CDS. Through this programme we could understand the real condition of the beneficiaries in directly and to create an opportunity for young generation to interact with the people in distress. They revealed that it was an eye opening experience for them. Visited children wrote their experience and we could give prize for the best write-up.
